COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Graduate Diploma in Nursing (Primary Health Care) aims to:

  • facilitate development of specialised knowledge, skills attributes for application in a range of primary health care nursing environments
  • extend student knowledge in research for practice development

Learning outcomes

In addition to the learning outcomes of the Graduate Diploma in Nursing, on completion of this specialisation students will be able to:

  • critically analyse the concepts and theories underpinning the provision of primary health care in a range of health care environments
  • identify and enact relevant international, national, state and territory strategic health care goals in primary health care nursing environments
  • apply concepts and theories of primary health care nursing in a simulated primary health care setting

Graduates are suitable for careers in a wide range of nursing-related fields.

Our courses will give registered nurses the opportunity to provide skillful care to individuals, families and communities to prevent illness, promote healthy lifestyles and manage a range of emerging complex health issues. They will be able to take on leadership and specialised care roles in a variety of clinical nursing settings.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.

IELTS (Academic): 6.5 Overall with 6.0 Speaking, 6.0 Writing, 6.0 Reading, 6.0 Listening;

TOEFL iBT: 79 Overall with 18 Speaking, 21 Writing, 13 Reading, 12 Listening;
Pearson PTE Academic: 58 Overall with 50 Speaking, 50 Writing, 50 Reading, 50 Listening;
Cambridge C1 Advanced: 176 Overall with 169 Speaking, 169 Writing, 169 Reading,169 Listening;
Occupational English Test (OET): 300 Speaking, 300 Writing, 300 Reading, 300 Listening; Duolingo (Up to and including Semester 2, 2024): Overall 105-110
