COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Master of Business Psychology provides extensive training in the application of psychological theories and principles to workplace settings to improve organisational performance while also enhancing employee wellbeing.

Learn to apply psychological theories and principles to workplace settings, to improve performance and make workplaces better, safer, healthier and happier. This course is open to applicants with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline, with particular relevance for those who are already in the workplace and who are looking to take the next step in their career. This course is not a pathway to professional registration as a psychologist – explore our psychology degrees to find a registered pathway.

Course structure

Postgraduate coursework degrees and combined (coursework and research) degrees comprise a number of units.

Career Pathways

In the workplace, graduates from this course would play a number of critical roles generally associated with employee and organisational performance. You can use your skills to work as an independent consultant, or as an employee in a wide range of jobs in both the public and private sector. These can include management consulting; workforce planning; job analysis and design; recruitment and selection; learning and development; leadership, coaching, mentoring and career development; workplace advice and advocacy; change management; organisational development; measuring employee opinions and other workplace research; performance management; wellbeing; stress and work-life balance; occupational health and safety; human resources program evaluation; and consumer behaviour and marketing.

Future job titles include Organisational Development Consultant, Human Resource Consultant, People and Culture Advisor/Leader, Learning and Development Manager, Trainer, Business Advisor/Analyst.

Further Study

Students completing this degree may have the option to pursue further studies in research.

REQUIREMENTS

To be considered for admission to this course an applicant must have— the equivalent of a 3 year Bachelors degree, with the equivalent of a UWA Weighted Average Mark of at least 60%

English language requirements:

TOEFL (paper-based): 570 with a Test of Written English (TWE) of no less than 4.5

IBT TOEFL (Internet-based test score): 82 with 22 for writing, 20 for speaking, 20 for listening, and 18 for reading

IELTS (Academic): 6.5 (no band lower than 6.0)

Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English: C pass

Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English: B grade

Pearson Test of English (PTE) (Academic): Overall score of 64 with a minimum score of 64 in the Reading and Writing sections, 59 in the Speaking section and 54 in the Listening section
