COURSE DESCRIPTION

Extend your knowledge in Human Services and expand your employment prospects.

Through this program you will develop specialised competence and expertise in social issues and problems and how they occur, as well as the theory, professional ethics and value base that is the foundation of human service practice.

Professional practice in the human services is complex, challenging and very rewarding because it’s about making a real difference in people’s lives and building a better world.

You will build on the key concepts developed in the Bachelor of Human Services – learning and socialisation, individual behaviour, human interaction, life stage development, as well as normative and deviant behaviour in culturally specific and multicultural contexts. Students will learn to conduct and disseminate research based on the principles of the behavioural sciences and documenting human behaviour.

Your thesis may be publishable and make a significant contribution to the field, which means your research might establish your professional reputation and act as a gateway to future jobs possibilities.

Graduates have gone on to fulfil significant roles in a range of different public and private services including youth services, human services, public and social policy areas, the criminal justice system including prisons and community corrections and Community services including community consultation and engagement work.
