Accredited by the Australian Computer Society, the Bachelor of Information Technology at Charles Sturt University gives you a comprehensive understanding of fields across the entire IT industry. You can also choose to major in an area that fires your imagination and fits your career goals. Choose from: Cyber Security, Network Engineering, Software and Application Development, and Web Development. Plus, our course prepares you for the workplace, with work-integrated learning and the opportunity to apply to undertake a work placement. Career opportunities When you graduate, you’ll be ready to make your mark in a wide range of careers, including: Cyber security specialist Data and risk analyst Information technology analyst Network administrator Network engineer Software developer Web developer What you will study For each 8-point subject you are enrolled in, you should expect to spend 10 to 12 hours per week working on assignments and assigned readings, tutorial assistance, individual or group research/study, forum activity, workplace learning, and attending lectures, intensive schools, or examinations. If you are studying four subjects per session, this is equivalent to a full-time job. The workload for some subjects may vary as a result of approved course design.
REQUIREMENTS
A completed High School Certificate (or equivalent) with an ATAR of at least 55 (including adjustment factors); or
Completion of the HSC (or equivalent) with strong performance (such as 60% or higher marks) in subjects in the Information Technology area; or
Successful completion of at least two appropriate standard IT university-level subjects; or
For recent school leavers, a report from the School Principal, equivalent to that used in the School Recommendation Scheme (SRS), recommending the applicant as well-suited for university study; or
IT related professional certifications such as from CISCO, Microsoft, IBM and other professional industries; or
Two years relevant professional IT work experience (i.e. in areas such as programmer, analyst, systems administration, help desk, network support but NOT clerical roles such as data entry or secretarial) demonstrated by a detailed resume; or
A completed AQF Certificate III in Information Technology (including any specialisation of Information Technology) or a completed AQF Certificate III in an area related to Information Technology; or
Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) with an equivalent ranking to the currently listed ATAR.
Have obtained an Academic IELTS within the last 2 years with: 6.0 no band less than 5.5
