COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Bachelor of Medical Research is not a stand-alone degree, but is designed to be undertaken in combination with the Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or the Doctor of Medicine (MD). Students must have completed at least 160 credit points of their primary medicine degree in order to enrol in the Bachelor of Medical Research. The Bachelor of Medical Research gives students the opportunity to develop their critical thinking and gain a more detailed experience in medical research than is provided in their medical program. Students undertake a medical research project while developing skills in identifying relevant literature, scientific research methods, and the correct protocols for developing and conducting a research project with the assistance of a supervisor. Students are expected to participate in research seminars and present the results of their research as a dissertation.

REQUIREMENTS

Students must have Successful completion of Year 12 or an equivalent qualification.

English Language Requirements:

IELTS: 6.5 overall score (min 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL internet-based score of 82: Writing 21, Speaking 18, Reading 13, Listening 13; Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE): 58 overall; No communication skills less than 50.
