COURSE DESCRIPTION

Curtin’s Graduate Diploma in Business will give you the breadth of skills and knowledge critical to business operations and leadership. You’ll learn the relevance of economic theory, factors to consider in financial decision-making, the theory and practice of strategic decision-making, and about leading people.

This qualification is relevant for managers at all levels (emerging through to middle/senior levels) who want to extend their business knowledge and may have an undergraduate degree in a non-business area.

After completing the four units of the graduate diploma, you may choose to exit or pause your business studies or complete the additional four units required to gain your Master of Business Administration (MBA).

You can complete your Graduate Diploma in just three trimesters (about 12 months), studying full-time or part-time.

After gaining your Graduate Diploma, you need only complete a further four units to achieve a Curtin MBA.

Your face-to-face study is at Curtin’s Graduate School of Business, in the heart of the Perth CBD.

You can choose to study on-campus (evenings or block teaching), online or a mix of both.

You can start your course at a time of the year that’s best for you, either January, May or August.

What you’ll learn

Access and critique contemporary business theories, concepts and principles and be able to apply these to add value in a group or organisation environment.

Effectively communicate in a variety of modes to gather, advise or influence stakeholders for a desired outcome.

Formulate responsible and strategic management and leadership decisions that are evidence-based and supported by a critical evaluation of markets, resources and financial information.

Canvass and influence the development of appropriate policies and strategies within a business environment for the benefit of stakeholders.

Apply principles of ethics, sustainability, corporate social responsibility and risk management across a range of business settings.

REQUIREMENTS

A bachelor degree from a recognised tertiary institution and at least three years’ subsequent, relevant work experience. Graduates from the Curtin Graduate Certificate in Business will be considered qualified for entry. Entry to the course is competitive and applicants will be required to undertake an interview as the final stage of application.

Certificate in Advanced English (CAE): Grade C; and Pearson Test of English Academic: 60. IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System): Writing, Speaking, Reading, and Listening: 6.0; Overall band score: 6.5; TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): 79 Overall; Reading 13 Listening 13 Speaking 18 Writing 21.
