COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course overview

The Post-Graduate Qualifying Program – Business (Stage 1) will develop the academic knowledge, skills and English Language Proficiency (ELP) for entry into the PQP semester and therefore Master’s degrees at ECU.

The Post-Graduate Qualifying Program – Business (Stage 2) will equip students with the knowledge, skills and English Language Proficiency (ELP) for entry into masters degrees in the Faculty of Business and Law at ECU.

Post-Graduate Qualifying Program – Business (Stage 1)

The course is comprised of four core units which cultivate and build upon English language development and academic English skills.

PQP3000 – Academic English
PQP3300 – Introduction to Research Methods
PQP3100 – Introduction to Effective Communication
PQP3400 – Introduction to Critical Thinking

Post-Graduate Qualifying Program – Business (Stage 2)

The course is made up of four core units comprising three PQP units that embed and test academic rigour and language development, together with one discipline-based unit for which ECU will award advanced standing on transfer to the university. A minimum of 50 percent pass in all units is required for progression to ECU.

Your Post-Graduate Qualifying Program – Business can lead into ECU first year of the below postgraduate degrees (2 years):

Master of Business Administration International (MBAI)
Master of Finance and Banking
Master of Human Resource Management
Master of International Hospitality Management
Master of Management Information Systems
Master of Marketing and Innovation Management
Master of Professional Accounting
Master of Project Management
Master of Supply Chain and Logistics Management

REQUIREMENTS

Post-Graduate Qualifying Program

Equivalent to an Australian Associate Degree

Academic entry requirements vary from country to country.

Stage 1: English Language Requirements: IELTS Academic – overall 5.5 (no more than 1 band at 5.0); Pearson Test of English (Academic): 42 with no more than 1 communicative skill 36-41; TOEFL iBT: 46 (1 skill at/between: R4-7,L466,S14/15,W14-17); Duolingo (selected countries only): 95; Phoenix English Proficiency Test (iPEPT): B2 (no component)

Stage 2: English Language Requirements: IELTS Academic – overall 6.0 with no band less than 6.0; Pearson Test of English (Academic): 50 with no score less than 49; TOEFL iBT: 70 (no infividual score less than 17); Phoenix English Proficiency Test (iPEPT): B2+ (no component)

Edith Cowan College (ECC) is located on both the Mt Lawley and Joondalup campuses of ECU in Perth, Western Australia and offers pre-university (foundation) and university (Diploma) pathway courses in Business, Hotel Management, Communications and Creative Industries, Computing and Information Technology, Engineering Studies and Health Studies (including Nursing). Following successful completion of the diploma program students are eligible for entry into the second year of the respective bachelor degree at ECU. A trimester system allows students to fast-track their studies and complete most courses in eight months. ECC’s flexible entry requirements make it an accessible option for students. ECC’s supportive learning environment ensures students are well prepared to enter university with confidence. ECC also offers the Post-Graduate Qualifying Program (PQP) which is a non-award program designed to lead students into ECU’s masters degrees. The program is designed for students who already have tertiary qualifications but have not qualified for direct entry into university masters degrees in the Faculty of Business and Law.
