COURSE DESCRIPTION
You will develop the knowledge and skills needed to work in public health roles around the world. You will learn how to address major health issues including chronic disease, sexual health, nutrition, HIV/AIDs, physical activity, drugs and alcohol within many populations such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, youth, seniors and in settings such as workplaces, hospital and schools.
In the final year, you will put your academic studies into practice through professional placements in public health organisations. The placements can be in either local or international locations. Visit Placement Essentials for details.

My career opportunities
As a graduate you will be qualified to work as a health promotion officer or a public health officer in a number of fields including health education, mental health, women’s health and policy development. You will find work in local state and government departments and agencies, non-government organisations, health centres, schools and community organisations.
Pathways to further study
Students who successfully complete the Bachelor of Public Health (1440) with a GPA of 5.0 or higher over the second and third year of the Bachelor degree will be eligible for admission into the Bachelor of Public Health (Honours) (2103). Further study options also include the Doctor of Medicine (5099), the Master of Public Health (5263) and the Master of Health Services Management (5586). Students interested in further study should consult the Program Director.
REQUIREMENTS
Standard academic entry to our undergraduate degrees requires completion of secondary school comparable to Australian Year 12 or equivalent academic achievement.
English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows: A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 6.0; OR a minimum score of 575 on TOEFL; OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no sub-score less than 19); OR no score less than 3+ in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only); OR a minimum overall score of 176 (no score less than 169) on C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English) or C2 Proficiency (formerly Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English); OR an overall score of 58 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with no score less than 50.:
