COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform advanced diagnostic tasks in the automotive retail, service, and repair industry. Participants would be able to work in an automotive workshop as highly skilled diagnosticians responsible for diagnosing difficult faults and able to use highly technical diagnostic equipment and have a high level of understanding of vehicle and machinery systems. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Who Should Apply for This Course

This course is targeted at international students who are:

  • Seeking to pursue a career as Automotive Master Technician, Automotive Diagnostic Technician, Automotive Mechanical Overhaul Technician, Performance Vehicle Technician
  • Seeking a pathway to higher-level qualifications
  • Graduates of an automotive mechanical Certificate III qualification, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.

Completing this course may provide you with employment or learning opportunities. Potential employment options are in a range of automotive repair industry areas. Further education pathways may include AUR50216 Diploma of Automotive Technology or a range of Diploma qualifications, as well as higher education qualifications.

REQUIREMENTS

Be at least 18 years of age and have completed an automotive mechanical Certificate III qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency
Participate in a course entry interview/pre-training review to determine suitability for the course and student needs.
Have an IELTS* score of 5.5 (test results must be no more than 2 years old). English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:

Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or
Within two years of their application date, you have successfully completed in Australia a foundation course or a Senior Secondary Certificate of Education or a substantial part of a Certificate IV or higher-level qualification, from the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Note that other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted. You are required to provide your results so that we can confirm they are equivalent to IELTS 5.5.
