COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of community settings and clients’ homes, who provide training and support in a manner that empowers people with disabilities to achieve greater levels of independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing. Workers promote a person-centred approach, work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

AS PART OF THIS COURSE, YOU WILL TAKE PART IN THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES:

  • An organised industry work placement (minimum 120 hours)

  • Participate in practical activities in our simulated training environment

  • Provide first aid CPR Training

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The following employment opportunities may be available to students who complete this qualification:

  • Case Management worker

  • Community Services Intake worker

  • Social Housing worker

REQUIREMENTS

To ensure an appropriate learning opportunity, candidates need to demonstrate a capacity to undertake study at Certificate IV level, this can be demonstrated via the following:

Minimum of IELTS 5.5 with no individual component score less than 5.0 or equivalent

Over 18 years of age at the commencement of the course.

Pre-training review to assess individual needs and that the individual can demonstrate ACSF working level 3 for all indicators.

Basic computer skills
