COURSE DESCRIPTION
Get your career in the fashion industry up and running through learning the foundations with this dual qualification. You will graduate with a portfolio of work and be qualified to work as a fashion design assistant.
According to the Australian Government’s Job Outlook service, the number of people working as fashion, industrial and jewellery designers is expected to grow very strongly and likely to reach over 3,000 job opportunities in the next five years.
This course will give you the skills you need to draw and interpret basic sketches, modify patterns to create basic styles, identify fibres, fabrics and textiles, and use electronic fashion design tools. Our highly experienced and passionate teaching team have years of industry experience and will give you the one-on-one guidance needed to prepare you for a career in fashion.
Completion of this course will give you direct entry into our Diploma of Apparel, Fashion and textiles qualification. Graduates will also be able to seek employment as a fashion designer assistant.

REQUIREMENTS
Academic Requirements: Completion of Year 10 (or equivalent). Non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification that indicates likely success of course completion.
International students who are under 18 years of age and are applying for a student visa are required by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs to have adequate welfare arrangements in place.
Academic IELTS 5.5 (no individual band less than 5.0) or ISLPR 2+ on all skills or other; iBT score of 46 with 8 in Reading /7 in Learning and 18 in writing /16 in speaking; PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) overall score of 42 with Reading /Learning /writing /speaking score of 36; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) score of 162.

The TAFE Queensland network is made up of six regions delivering training from Thursday Island to the Gold Coast, from Bundaberg to Roma and across the south-east corner.
