Advance your career in oral health care with this higher-level qualification. This course will give you the specialised skills and knowledge to work as a dental technician in a diverse range of settings.
According to the Australian Government’s Job Outlook service, there is stable future job growth predicted for people working as dental hygienists, technicians and therapists. Employers are looking for qualified candidates who are caring, empathetic, and can communicate clearly with a diverse range of people.
This qualification gives you the skills to construct models and custom impression trays, build removable acrylic dentures and alloy frames, and make crown and bridge structures. Our highly-experienced team of industry professionals will give you the support and one-on-one guidance you need to successfully transition into the dental industry.
Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work as a dental technician or give you the foundation skills needed to undertake further study in the field.

University Pathways
If you want to go on to further study at university, TAFE Queensland has a pathway option to get you there. In many cases, completing one of our diplomas will give you a full year of credit towards a degree with one of our partner universities.
REQUIREMENTS
Academic Requirements: Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent). Non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification that indicates likely success of course completion.
International students who are under 18 years of age and are applying for a student visa are required by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs to have adequate welfare arrangements in place.
Academic IELTS 6.0 (no individual band less than 5.5) or ISLPR 3 on all skills or other; iBT score of 60 with 13 in Reading /12 in Learning and 21 in writing /18 in speaking; PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) overall score of 50 with Reading /Learning /writing /speaking score of 50; Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) score of 169.

TAFE Queensland is the biggest provider of further education and vocational training courses in Queensland. On an average, every year more than 180,000 students complete a course at TAFE Queensland. The TAFE Queensland network is made up of six regions delivering training from Thursday Island to the Gold Coast, from Bundaberg to Roma and across the south-east corner.
