Our University of Sydney Foundation Program (USFP) course is crafted to provide you with the essential academic skills and knowledge crucial for thriving in your undergraduate studies at the prestigious University of Sydney.
We understand that every student’s journey is unique, which is why we provide the flexibility of different program lengths—Standard and Intensive. This ensures that regardless of your current academic level, you have the opportunity to tailor your learning experience to best suit your individual needs and aspirations.
Who is the University of Sydney Foundation Program for?
The USFP is designed to assist students who want to study an undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney, but don’t meet the necessary entry requirements. We will support you whatever your academic needs. Additionally, we offer a range of start dates throughout the year to suit your timing and your planned university degree.
Communication, Collaboration and Critical Thinking
Our curriculum prioritises the development of communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills, in line with the University of Sydney’s graduate attributes. By focusing on these essential skills, students will be well-prepared and equipped to excel in their university studies.
We are dedicated to nurturing students who are ready to embrace global citizenship right from the beginning of their educational path.
Course structure
USFP Standard and Intensive
Our Foundation Program’s Standard and Intensive formats are offered for students who need a relative amount of preparation ahead of taking on a degree at the University of Sydney. They are taught full time over the course of 52 and 40 weeks respectively.

5 modules are studied across the program.
Academic English and Social Research and Inquiry are compulsory core modules for all students.
Some degrees have a compulsory mathematics prerequisite.

REQUIREMENTS
Entry to the University of Sydney Foundation Program and High Achievers Preparation Program is for international students only.
- IELTS (Academic): 5.5 (no band less than 5.5)
- TOEFL iBT: 62 (writing no less than 16)
- PTE (Academic): 46 (writing no less than 46)
- CAE: 162
Students from other countries should have country specific qualification equivalent to Australia.
