COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia. They support children’s wellbeing and development in the context of an approved learning framework. Educators use a range of well-developed skills and knowledge using discretion and judgment when carrying out their work in the context of established policies and procedures.

They may work independently or under the guidance of others, though in some contexts that guidance may not be on-site.

Working towards this qualification is the minimum requirement to work in Early Childhood settings.

Course Structure

This qualification is made up of 17 (15 core and 2 elective units) units of competency. Some units are stand alone; however, some units have been sequenced in line with industry consultation and clustered together with units containing similar skills and knowledge.

REQUIREMENTS

  • be 18 years or older; and
  • have completed Year 11 or its equivalent with suitable English language skills.
  • International Students are also required to have an English ability at the IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.
  • A working with children check is required for work placement and for gaining employment

The Times Academy’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course prepares international students for tertiary studies in Australian institutions. Times Academy hosts various social events, such as student orientation, beach days, excursions and workshops to encourage a friendly learning environment for its students.
