COURSE DESCRIPTION

People qualified in Agriculture work in producing food and fibre to meet the needs of our growing world population. They may be farmers, or work in jobs which assist farmers such as extension officers or consultants. Their knowledge and skills will play an important role in ensuring we can provide the basic necessities of life to people in all parts of the world.

Qualifications in Agriculture focus on the skills and knowledge needed to manage a sustainable, productive and profitable farm.

The Diploma of Agriculture (AHC50116) will provide you with skills and knowledge related to broad acre crops, livestock production, natural resource management, business management and marketing. A solid base for any farm manager.

Course Information:

Our Agriculture courses have been developed according to the requirements of the Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management Training Package (AHC16) and have been approved for delivery by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). They are nationally recognised qualifications within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). The qualifications are delivered by Academies Australasia Institute with specialists of RuralBiz Training (RTO 90782). RuralBiz Training is also part of the Academies Australasia group. Classes are held at University of New England Armidale campus.

Study Path

Training is delivered in stages which correspond to AQF Levels V – VI. The preferred pathway for a qualification is for students to complete the requirements of the previous level qualification before progressing to the next level – thereby achieving more than one qualification.

Applicants without the previous level qualification will be considered if they have relevant qualification and vocational experience.

We aim to equip our graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to enable them to successfully satisfy the demands of the workplace.

Course Delivery

Delivery and assessment strategies are selected to reflect the nature of the elements and performance criteria of the competency together with the needs and learning style of the participants. Qualifications are delivered over 16 hours of face to-face and 4 hours of online learning per week.

Assessment methodology may include but is not limited to: observation, project/report, case study, role play, exercises, activities; and written/oral tasks including multiple choice, questions and answer, essays, true/false and presentations.
