COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) is the basic requirement for anyone who aspires to be employed as a professional pilot. At the Australian Airline Pilot Academy (AAPA), we train our candidate pilots to an airline standard. This ensures that your CPL training is conducted in the most professional environment available in Australasia.
A candidate can attempt a commercial flight test once they have accumulated a minimum of 150 flight hours and reached a standard to pass the CPL flight test. The student must obtain a pass in several CPL theory examinations before they can undertake the CPL flight test which will be conducted by an Approved Testing Officer.
AAPA’s CPL course is Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) approved under Part 141 and Part 142 in which the student learns basic flying skills and airmanship in brand new training aircraft with state-of-the-art full glass cockpits from pre PPL stage right through to obtaining the CPL. Students also have the opportunity to meet and talk with real airline pilots who fly the line every day and gain experience with aircraft maintenance procedures at the affiliated Rex heavy maintenance base located right next to the school, providing for a comprehensive aviation training programme.
REQUIREMENTS
The minimum age requirement of a candidate is 18 years old for the issue of a CPL following successful completion of the flight test.
EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION
The Australian Airline Pilot Academy (AAPA) is an institute that trains high quality commercial pilots from ab-initio to airline standard CPL with a large percentage of its graduate pilots progressing directly to becoming first officers on Rex’s fleet of Saab 340 aircraft. AAPA is wholly owned and operated by a major airline, specifically Regional Express (Rex), the largest independent regional airline in Australia. All AAPA graduates can be assured that they will be trained to meet the highest standards demanded by airline operators. AAPA’s AUD 28 million dollar brand new state-of-the-art campus houses the most modern of flight simulators and brand new training aircraft equipped with glass cockpits and is situated close by the Wagga Wagga airport terminal and Rex Airline’s heavy maintenance base.
