COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children’s wellbeing, learning and development. Depending on the setting, educators may work under direct supervision or autonomously.

Target groups for the CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care are international students who are:

  • Characteristics of the target group are as follows:

International students from various countries who are seeking to develop their skills and knowledge in early childhood education and care to further their career prospects or study pathways. Typically, these students will not have any work experience and are between 18 – 35.

Students may be onshore students currently based in Australia or offshore students applying from overseas. Most students speak English as a second language and must satisfy English language proficiency in order to successfully enrol into the course.

Course Outcome:

On successful completion of the course, students will receive Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care qualification. Graduates from this course will be able to perform the duties of Early Childhood Educator. Graduates will have entry level understanding of children’s development, health and safety of supervising children and ability to identify and respond to behavioral issues and provide emergency first aid response to children

Assessment Method

Assessments may include short written knowledge tests, discussions and oral communication demonstrations, case study exercises, written reports, web-based research and reports, final projects, and final written exams. To perform at your best, you will probably need to work on the assessments outside of class time.

Course Credit

Students may apply for recognition of existing qualifications or skills, knowledge and experience (credit transfer or recognition of prior learning). The granting of course credit may affect course fees, as well as the duration of the course.

Academic Pathways

Students who complete this course may wish to continue their education into the CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

Employment Pathways

Potential employment options are as an Educator in an Early Childhood Education and Care setting.

REQUIREMENTS

Be at least 18 years of age and have completed the equivalent of Year 12.

Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs.

Have an IELTS* score of 6.0 (test results must be no more than 2 years old) English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:

  • Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or
  • Successful completion of an English Placement Test
