COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Diploma of Production Nursery Management reflects the role of those who manage commercial production nursery enterprises. The nursery manager is likely to have significant responsibilities in managing a nursery operation.

These responsibilities could include:

  • administering the business
  • developing a production plan
  • developing plant sales programs
  • monitoring budgets and financial reports
  • preparing estimates, quotes and tenders
  • providing specialist advice on plants, products and treatments
  • designing irrigation, drainage and water treatment systems

AHCBUS511 – Manage enterprise staff requirements

AHCPCM508 – Develop an integrated pest management program

BSBESB406 Establish operational strategies and procedures for new business ventures

BSBPMG430 Undertake project work

AHCSOL505 Monitor and manage soils for production

AHCCHM501 Develop and manage a chemical use strategy

AHCPCM507 Diagnose plant health problems

AHCWAT503 Manage water systems

AHCWRK513 Write and present reports

REQUIREMENTS

Completion of equivalent to Diploma or higher, Year 12 equivalent completed, or currently employed in the Horticulture Industry, with at least 36 months equivalent employment.

Age: 16 plus

English Proficiency Requirements: all candidates must complete a Language Literacy & Numeracy Assessment, assessed by the Language Studies Department.
