COURSE DESCRIPTION
This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualized plan to provide person-centered support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centered support.
Obtaining the CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) qualification renders the student eligible to apply for jobs such as :
Disability care workers
Disability Care Support Workers
In a range of care facilities:
Disability Care Centre
Community Centre
Government-funded disability care services include in-home care (care in your home), residential care in aged care (nursing) homes, and short-term care such as respite care.
REQUIREMENTS
Age Requirement Must be 18 years or older as underage students are not trained by AEC.
Academic Requirement A minimum of the Australian HSC , or an equivalent or higher – as an indication of the required Academic level of the applicant.
English Language Requirement IELTS of 5.5 or an equivalent score: the registration process requires applicants to submit evidence satisfying all entry criteria including an IELTS of 5.5 or its equivalent.
Physical Requirement Applicants need to have the mental, emotional and physical capability and willingness to work with aged and/or disability clients for extended hours on a daily basis.
