COURSE DESCRIPTION

So, you love diving and know you would love to share this passion by teaching others how to explore and protect the underwater world. Great, our Certificate IV in Outdoor Leadership combined with PADI SCUBA courses is designed for you! You can enter the program as a beginner or maybe you’re a Divemaster (any agency) our certificate dive units align to PADI programs with credits for existing Divemaster’s and taking you to the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). And not only is this a fantastic opportunity to get a formal qualification and PADI Certifications recognised worldwide but you get to study and work in a great place with world renowned diving, Australia.

Graduates of the Certificate IV are highly skilled dive industry leaders, admired by other divers and employers as different from other just agency certified leaders/instructors as you are also qualified to be dive industry professional. In addition to your PADI dive guide and instruction skills you have well developed leadership, customer service, logistic, safety, lesson and other planning, weather interpretation, risk and environment management and a host of other important skills and knowledge to work autonomously or with others in the dive industry.

You can apply and enrol in our Certificate IV Leadership program, apply for a student visa to study in Australia (Subclass 500, student visa) for our Certificate IV or a package with the Certificate III and IV (reducing the Cert IV to potentially 10 units). During the course you will develop skills to:

Lead, guide (DM stream) and instruct SCUBA (IDC stream) and snorkeling outdoor activities.
Manage group dynamics.
Exercise leadership skills and strategies.
Initiate healthy communication.
Support people with disabilities.
Correctly maintain SCUBA equipment.
Coordinate emergency situations.
Ensure workplace health and safety.
Providing quality service.

Techniques to demonstrate and instruct skills for adventure activities.
Manage groups of participants in an outdoor environment.
First aid, Oxygen administration, water rescue and response to emergencies situations.
Navigation, communication and weather interpretation.
Plan to minimise environmental impact.
Manage and maintain equipment logistics of outdoor operations.

This is a fun, challenging and exciting qualification that will help you gain the knowledge and skills to be an industry professional opening a world of adventure, exploration and employment in Australia and around the world.

REQUIREMENTS

Entry Requirements Age: Be 18 years of age or over. Interview: On-campus or phone/Skype interview before enrolment to determine course suitability (English level appropriateness, interests, intentions), identify relevant electives, costs, RPL and elective pre-requisites.
English proficiency: To an “Intermediate” level. Determined by one or combination of: Intermediate Level of English OR IELTS Test Score of 5.0. Other recognized English Language tests such as: TOEFL iBT Test Score of 56, PTE Academic Test Score of 42, Cambridge English: FCE, OET Pass Grade, all tests to be no more than 2 years old, or Previous English study to intermediate level (must supply evidence acceptable to AGI) or satisfactorily complete our AGI English entrance test or Demonstrate intermediate level English in AGI interview or Completion of Year 10 (Australia) or equivalent (New Zealand, USA, UK, Canada).
Previous activity experience and interest: Experience in recreational, sport or fitness activities preferred but not essential in. Demonstrated in interview, references, resume and copies licenses (e.g., recreation, sport, health and fitness, SCUBA licenses or participation, swimming)
SCUBA stream: Swimming ability is required (200m, plus tread water for 10 mins), plus a pre- SCUBA questionnaire to be completed, based on answers a medical may be required at your expense, medical is required before commencing Dive Master program/Instructor Development Programs.
Note: Students can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning or Direct Credit. This may reduce the course time. See website or contact AGI for details.
