COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. In doing so they work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff.
Course Structure
CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care consists of fifteen units (15) units of competency, comprising 12 core units and 3 elective units, in accordance with the packaging rules.
Mandatory Work Placement
Students are required to complete 240 hours mandatory work placement to complete CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
Students may request Australian Health and Management Institute to organise their work placement or they may find their own mandatory work placement. In the event the student has selected the work placement, Australian Health and Management Institute staff undertakes a work place suitability assessment prior to approval
All students are required to evidence the following documentation prior to undertaking mandatory work placement
Current and satisfactory police check
Working with Children Check
Current First Aid Certificate

Education Pathways
After successfully achieving CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, candidates may undertake CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
REQUIREMENTS
Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who:
Hold a CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or
CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
International Students must be 18 years of age at the time of enrolment
Academic Entry Requirements: Year 12 or equivalent of Australian HSC.
English Language Entry Requirements: IELTS score 6.0 (with no bands less than 5.5) or equivalent Pearson Test of English (PTE).
