COURSE DESCRIPTION

Accounting can be defined as the “language of business,” playing a vital role in almost every organization. Whether it’s basic bookkeeping or high-level strategic planning and analysis, there is a consistent demand for individuals with accounting skills. The Bachelor of Accounting program equips graduates with the necessary skills, knowledge, and attributes to excel as accountants in modern business environments. Aligned with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and professional associations’ requirements, this degree offers a comprehensive curriculum.
The Bachelor of Accounting degree focuses on essential units that cover financial accounting, management accounting, and auditing, enabling students to gain professional accreditation and pursue employment opportunities in the accounting discipline. Recognizing that accountants often collaborate with professionals from various functional areas, the program also incorporates education in information technology, marketing, organizational behavior, operations, and provides a range of business-based elective options. Moreover, it emphasizes the development of critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and highlights the significance of corporate responsibility, ethics, and governance.
AIH’s Bachelor of Accounting holds professional accreditation from CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants ANZ , fulfilling the academic requirements for entry into the CPA/CAANZ Programs. Additionally, esteemed professional organizations like the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) acknowledge AIH’s Bachelor of Accounting course.
Structure
To complete the degree, you will need to pass 23 units. These units are divided into three levels based on contents and level of difficulty. The first level (Level 1000) has 8 core units. The second level (2000) has 6 core units. The third level (Level 3000) has 5 core units including a Capstone unit. In addition, you will get to select 4 electives (2 electives from 2000 level and 2 electives from 3000 level except Capstone units).

REQUIREMENTS

International students must provide evidence of the following to demonstrate they have successfully met the educational entry requirements:
Successful completion of Year 12 at the credit or above level as determined in Student Admission Policy (Appendix 1); or
Recognised Foundation Studies course; or
Successful completion of one year of accredited tertiary study at an Australian institution**; or
Successful completion of Certificate IV in a related discipline or above**; or
International Baccalaureate with a score of 24.
If a student starts undergrad studies with another provider in Australia, they must meet the criteria and maintain satisfactory course progression. If progress is unsatisfactory, they might be offered a place through the Student at Risk program.
English language equivalence requirements*
For students whose secondary education was conducted in a language other than English:
IELTS overall band score: 6.0 (no band less than 5.5) or equivalent (Refer to Appendix 2); or
English for Academic Purposes Certificate of Proficiency from an Institute’s approved ELICOS provider.
