Community Services is a sector with a variety of challenging and interesting roles and opportunities allowing you to specialise in the sector or work as a generalist. Our Community Services Course will help prepare you for the outside world.
You may be involved in managing, coordinating and/or delivering of person-centered services to individuals, groups and communities. You will be providing direct support to individuals or groups of individuals using a strengths based case management model. There are a range of fields Community Services workers provide support including:
Child, Youth and Family
Disability
Community Mental Health
Drugs and Alcohol Treatments
Domestic and Family Violence
Housing
Working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People
Working with older people
Migration and refugee support and settlement
Job Network Providers
How can our course allow you to work in such a large variety of specialisations?
At ALG, we teach key community services skills, providing students with a solid foundation that can be applied across a range of general and specialised areas. This includes a focus on person-centred and strengths-based approaches, working with diversity, case planning, and legal and ethical requirements. For example, being person-centred and focusing on the strengths of a person or group are at the core of community services work and help facilitate meaningful and sustainable support and change.

REQUIREMENTS
Be at least 18 years of age,
Provide evidence of completing at least the equivalent of Australian Year 12,
ALG English Proficiency Requirements:
IELTS score: 6.0 (with no individual band under 5.5); Cambridge English CAE: 169; TOEFL Internet Based: 60; Occupational English Test (OET): B; PTE Academic: 50
