COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Command Instrument Rating is the most demanding and challenging to obtain. It requires the development of good hand-eye co-ordination skills, procedural proficiency and the ability to make command decisions. Without a Command Instrument Rating a pilot must operate in visual meteorological conditions (VMC) at all times.
Successful completion of this rating will enable you to operate in nearly all weather conditions. As a charter or airline pilot your employment opportunities are much higher if you are able to fly in all types of weather. Once you have attained it you will be a pilot with abilities shared by only a few at the very top of aviation tree.
Course:
Your training commences in the increasingly popular AGMK6 Aero guidance simulator. This trainer is set up in its single engine mode. The system is fully computerized with all types of navaids, including DME and GPS, and can simulate all sorts of procedures including Air Traffic Control, weather, and the most important emergency procedures that cannot be practiced in real flight. The trainer is also used for recency requirements.
Your training will consist of 15 Hours in the simulator and the remaining hours in the aircraft. This cuts down the cost of the IFR Rating. The flight training component is conducted in the Piper PA28R Arrow.

REQUIREMENTS
- Completion of a Class 2 or Class 1 Medical
- Private Pilot’s Licence & Night VFR rating or a Commercial Pilot Licence
- English Language proficiency (please see below for full details)
- 10 Hours of Night Time with 5 hours Pilot in command
- 50 Hours Cross Country Flight Time as Pilot In command
English Language Requirements
Minimum IELTS Score of 6.0 with none of the test scores (listening, reading, writing & listening) below 5.5 or Pearson PTE minimum test score of 50 Note: The English test must have been taken two years immediately before the date of Student visa application is made or two year immediately before a decision is made on the application.
If you fall into one of the following student categories, you are exempt from providing an English test score as evidence of English language proficiency:
- students who have completed at least five years’ study in English in one or more of the following countries: Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland
- students who have completed in Australia, the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education in the English language, in the two years before applying for this Student visa
- in the two years before applying for this Student visa, completed a substantial component of a course leading to a qualification from the Australian Qualifications Framework at Certificate IV or higher level, while holding a Student visa.Make sure you provide the appropriate evidence if you satisfy one of the exemptions above.
