COURSE DESCRIPTION
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a broad range of tasks on a
variety of light vehicles in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.
Course Transition Arrangement
The RTO Manager and VET Coordinator will ensure that BIC is subscribed to email
updates from:
• Training.gov.au
• Australian Industry and Skills committee
• Skills IQ Servicer Organisation
• ASQA (general direction notifications)
These email updates advise of changes to transition requirements and/or Training
Package changes relevant to a specific industry.
On the occasion that there is a change in a relevant Training Package, the
Coordinator of the department will examine the amendments and inform affected
staff of these changes at the next academic team review meeting.
The academic team will review the changes made and create an action plan to
implement the new training package or unit requirements. The action plan and its
implementation will be reviewed at each management review meeting until the
changes have been successfully implemented.
Transition arrangements must be completed within 12 months of changes being
notified or as notified by ASQA.
BIC will follow the procedures for ‘Transition and teach out arrangements’ as
outlined in ASQA’s General Direction—Learner transition.
Pathways
Qualification Pathways:
After achieving AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, students
may undertake:
– AUR40216 – Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis
Participants who exit this course at any time prior to completion will receive a Statement
of Attainment for the units of competency they have successfully achieved.
Employment Pathway:
Job roles and titles vary across different industry sectors. Possible job titles relevant to
this qualification include but not limited to:
? Technicians and Trades Workers
? Machinery Operators and Drivers
? Vehicle Repair Technician
REQUIREMENTS
Age Requirements
All students must be 18 years or over at the time of entry into Australia or at the scheduled course commencement, whichever is earlier.
Academic Requirements
Satisfactory completion of the equivalent of Australian Year 12 or higher
English language requirement
International students, applying either off-shore or on-shore will require:
(a) A minimum IELTS (General) test score of 5.5 or equivalent for direct entry into a
VET course, OR
(b) IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent with a General English (ELICOS) course up to ten
(10) weeks) before the main VET course, OR
(c) IELTS score of 4.5 or equivalent with a General English (ELICOS) course up to
twenty (20) weeks before the main VET course. Results older than two (2) years
are not accepted. OR,
(d) Evidence that they have studied in English for at least five (5) years in Australia,
Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom or
United States of America, OR
(e) Evidence that within two (2) years of their application date they have successfully
completed a foundation course or a senior secondary certificate of education or
a substantial part of a Certificate IV or higher-level AQF qualification.
