COURSE DESCRIPTION
Nations around the world have experienced a global pandemic and are trying to rebuild their economies with extra government stimulus. This process, which is expected to take many years, creates a once-in-a-generation opportunity for talented project and program managers to help their communities by successfully delivering innovative solutions for life in the ‘new normal’. Pre-pandemic, project management jobs were already abundant and well-paid. Post-pandemic, jobs are forecast to grow even more across all industry sectors and regions.
This program enables you to manage projects and programs (or aligned groups of projects) within a portfolio and make decisions that lead to successful financial, social, ethical, and environmental outcomes. We adopt a hands-on approach using authentic case studies and evidence-based research. You can apply your new capabilities to any type of project in any industry sector. Our main objective is to teach you how to ‘make things happen’. This is the primary purpose of project management.
Projects are vehicles of change and project managers are change agents. Whether you lead change related to initiatives for product creation, service provision or systems development, project managers set out to deliver outcomes that are on schedule, within budget, as specified and with no surprises. This is achieved through a mix of technical, tactical, and strategic decisions that maximise value and minimise unnecessary effort.
The Bachelor of Project Management is taught by an experienced team of industry professionals and research-informed educators using weekly interactive classes held over two years (six semesters) full time.
The Bachelor of Project Management concerns projectised decision-making applicable to a wide range of different industry sectors. It builds on three foundation semesters comprising business acumen, project framework, process analysis and core skill development before three further practice semesters comprising technical, tactical, and strategic decision-making. The program includes comprehensive coverage of project schedule, cost, resource, scope, quality, procurement, communications, risk, and stakeholder management, two elective choices and concludes with a capstone subject on project integration management. There is an organisational change focus in the curriculum’s design. The program’s curriculum is purposely built around the PMBOK® Guide, which is the international standard for the project management discipline.
What can you do with your degree?
Project management is a global profession, with over one million certified practitioners in PMI alone. More than ever, project managers are necessary in almost every sector of business. With specialist skills in problem-solving, team leadership, change management, stakeholder communication and risk management, you could find work in the government, community or private sectors in industries including but not limited to sectors like construction, business, engineering, manufacturing, mining, healthcare, property development, information technology, and disaster management.
Program learning outcomes
Program Learning Outcomes provide a broad and measurable set of standards that incorporate a range of knowledge, skills and abilities that will be achieved on completion of the program. These outcomes will help you determine whether this program aligns with your professional pathway, career and learning goals.
How you can further develop your skills
A foundation in project management gives you a strong skillset which can be combined with postgraduate studies in a broad range of disciplines. The course is particularly tailored to our new Master of Project Innovation degree (recommended option).
