COURSE DESCRIPTION

The qualification AHC40422 Certificate IV in Horticulture allows you to develop post-trade skills and knowledge across a broad coverage of the industry prior to undertaking higher roles in the industry. You learn how to control small horticultural projects, improve soils, manage equipment and machinery, implement pest management and chemical use strategies, manage water systems and horticultural production, recruit and induct staff and maintain work health and safety. Your studies include subjects from the Diploma of Horticulture which can provide entrée to supervisory positions in the Horticulture industries such as nurseries, country clubs and resorts, council services, and visitor attractions such as theme parks
Program Duration
This course will run for 52 weeks comprising 20 hours per week of study time. There will be holiday breaks every 10 weeks for 2 weeks. You can expect to take about 12 months to complete the course.

The Certificate IV in Horticulture contains 12 Units:
AHCPCM406 Develop a soil health and plant nutrition program
AHCPGD404 Plan a plant establishment program
AHCWHS402 Maintain workplace health and safety processes
AHCWRK410 Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices
AHCCHM405 Plan and implement a chemical use program
AHCPCM404 Recommend plants and cultural practices
AHCPMG409 Implement a pest management plan
BSBHRM415 Coordinate recruitment and onboarding
AHCNSY404 Plan a propagation program
AHCORG411 Manage organic soil improvement
AHCPMG412 Develop a pest management plan
AHCSOL406 Sample soils and interpret results

REQUIREMENTS

All students must have successfully completed Year 12 or equivalent qualification /
certificate and received/gained at least a 55% pass mark in the English Subject / or
be able to demonstrate English language proficiency at the time of enrolment. A
student can demonstrate English language proficiency by taking IELTS exam (minimum score 5.5) or by demonstrating the reading and writing skills to the Brisbane
College of Horticulture.
Also, candidates will need to be able to calculate ratios, dilution rates, volumes and
area as several units require the completion of written reports and workplace
plans. A good knowledge of plants and their culture is beneficial.
