COURSE DESCRIPTION
In the Diploma of Horticulture Management, you learn how to establish and manage a horticultural business or project. Your study will help you develop a range of skills which include: managing plant health programs; developing production and safety plans and managing staffand services.
The Diploma of Horticulture Management graduates could go for supervisory positions in the Horticulture industries such as nurseries, country clubs and resorts, council servicesand visitor attractions such as theme parks.
Program Duration This course will run for 52 weeks comprising 20 hours per week of study time. There will be holiday breaks every 10 weeks for 2 weeks. You can expect to take about 12 months to complete the course.

The Diploma contains 10 Units:
AHCWRK513 Write and present reports
AHCWRK520 Develop workplace policy and procedures for environment and sustainability
AHCWHS503 Manage work health and safety processes AHCBUS511 Manage enterprise staff requirements
AHCBUS514 Negotiate and monitor contracts
AHCCHM501 Develop and manage a chemical use strategy AHCPCM507 Diagnose plant health problems
AHCPHT511 Develop a horticultural production plan
AHCPHT512 Manage a controlled growing environment AHCWAT503 Manage water systems
REQUIREMENTS
All students must have successfully completed Year 12 or equivalent qualification / certificate and received/gained at least a 55% pass mark in the English Subject / or be able to demonstrate English language proficiency at the time of enrolment. A student can demonstrate English language proficiency by taking IELTS exam (minimum score 5.5) or by demonstrating the reading and writing skills to the Brisbane College of Horticulture. Prior to commencing this qualification an individual must: – 1. have completed the following units of competency (or equivalent): AHCCHM304 Transport and store chemicals AHCCHM307 Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases AHCPCM308 Identify and select plants AHCPMG301 Control weeds AHCPMG302 Control plant pests, diseases and disorders AHCSOL304 Implement soil improvements for garden and turf areas AHCWHS302 Contribute to workplace health and safety processes OR 2. have relevant equivalent skills and knowledge acquired through participation in the horticulture industry.
