COURSE DESCRIPTION
Diploma of Community Services reflects the role of community services workers involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups, and communities.
At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously within their scope of practice under broad directions from senior management.
Workers support people to make change in their lives to improve personal and social wellbeing and may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers. They may also undertake case management and program coordination.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 400 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.
The course is in the application process of being accredited by the ACWA. If accreditation becomes successful, graduates can immediately become eligible for membership of the ACWA and enjoy the benefit of membership.

Community services refer to a broad range of programs and services that help people in need, including aged care, disability, youth work, drug and alcohol services, employment programs and more. Typically are government and non-profit organisations.
REQUIREMENTS
International Students
Academic Requirements:
a minimum of Year 10 level of literacy and numeracy skills, or
A lower-level VET course
Language Requirements
IELTS 5.5, or an equivalent score in other language proficiency tests.
A minimum IELTS score of 4.5 needs to be paired with the completion of a 10-week English for Healthcare and Nursing course.
Age Requirements:
Applicants must be 18 years of age or above for courses that require work placement.
15 years of age or above for English language course(s).
English language requirements
IELTS – minimum score of 5.5; TOEFL internet based test – minimum score of 46; Cambridge English: Advanced (Certificate in Advanced English) minimum score of 162; PTE Academic minimum score of 42; Occupational English test – B for each test component
