COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Graduate Certificate in Practice Innovation is designed with a pragmatic purpose and will assist you or your team working in the field of education to prepare, experiment, evaluate, and report on a project.

The course will build upon your existing knowledge base and experience as well as offer a scholarly research component.

A great feature of this course is that a workplace can study as a group: the facilitated innovation project can be taken as a cohort of other educators who share a common educational context.

The facilitated innovation project is based on principles of design research and will guide you to prepare a project relevant to your role. You will evaluate your innovation using evidence of practice gathered during your experimentation, and then report your analysis to others.

We know that educators are innovators and want to impact their learning environment for good and for God. CHC will flexibly support education innovation with holistic growth in mind.

CAREER ADVANCEMENT

By doing this course and completing the facilitated innovation project, teachers will find they have developed knowledge and skills, and accompanying evidence of practice, to support Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher (HALT) certification from the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership.

Completion of the Graduate Certificate in Practice Innovation will give graduates, who also hold a recognised initial teacher education qualification, credits towards studying a Master of Education.

COURSE STRUCTURE

4 units in order of study:

ED661 Preparing for education Innovation
ED662 Piloting education innovation
ED663 Implementing education innovation

ED664 Evaluating and reporting education innovation

REQUIREMENTS

RECENT SECONDARY EDUCATION

Applicants with recent secondary education are not eligible for admission to this course.

HIGHER EDUCATION STUDY

Applicants with a recognised initial teacher education qualification and at least one year (full-time equivalent) of relevant teaching experience are eligible for admission to this.

VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (VET) STUDY

Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) study are not eligible for admission to this course.

WORK AND LIFE EXPERIENCE

Applicants with only industry experience, are not eligible for admission to this course.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Applicants for whom English is not their first language must provide certified documentary evidence that their secondary schooling, or tertiary studies of at least one year, was conducted in the English language or they have satisfactory results in an acceptable English Language Proficiency examination (see table below). Results are to be no more than two years old as at the commencement of the course of study.

IELTS (Academic): 6.5 (at least 6.0 in all subtests)

TOEFL (PBT): 577

TOEFL (IBT): 90 (at least 16 in Listening, Reading; 21 in Writing; 18 in Speaking)
