COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Master of Teaching (Primary) is a two-year postgraduate course, available both full time and part time.
The Master of Teaching (Primary) provides students with an understanding of the primary school sector, focusing on skills and abilities in literacy, numeracy, curriculum content, and information and communication technologies, which are integrated into each unit. Students are equipped with an understanding of diversity and differentiated learning strategies that foster learning for all children. Students are able to undertake a primary specialisation in either English or Mathematics.
The maximum time allowed for the completion of the Master of Teaching (Primary) is eight years. Extensions beyond this time may be approved where extenuating circumstances exist.
Students who successfully complete 8 units of the Master of Teaching (Primary) but are unable to complete the remainder of the course may exit with the Graduate Diploma in Teaching Studies. The Graduate Diploma in Teaching Studies does not satisfy the requirements for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.

School-based placements
School-based teaching placements create authentic learning experiences and are integral to shaping teaching practice.
The Professional Experience Program (PEP) consists of 85 days of supervised practicum undertaken in a range of schools. Placements are available in the Christian, state and Independent schooling sectors in both urban and regional settings. Students are required to hold a valid Blue Card in order to engage in PEP.
COURSE STRUCTURE
The Master of Teaching (Primary) consist of 3 strands: Christian Education, Education Studies, and Curriculum, Learning and Teaching.
In planning their courses, students must consult the Education Courses Guide for information regarding course rules and requirements, including unit prerequisite requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
Higher education study
Applicants with a Bachelor degree (other than Education) with a GPA of at least 4.0 and at least one year (full-time equivalent) of studies relevant to one or more areas of the primary school curriculum are eligible for admission to this course.
Recent secondary education
Applicants who have completed secondary education in the last two years and who are aged 17 years or over, are eligible for admission to this course.
VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (VET) STUDY
Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) study are not eligible for admission to this course.
Work and life experience
Whilst some courses recognise work and life experience as alternative prior learning to an ATAR or other perquisites, unfortunately for postgraduate courses like this one, that is not possible, as the undergraduate degree entry is also used to define the teaching area.
Applicants for whom English is not their first language must provide certified documentary evidence that their secondary schooling, or tertiary studies of at least one year, was conducted in the English language or they have satisfactory results in an acceptable English Language Proficiency examination.
- IELTS (Academic): 7.5 (at least 8.0 for Listening and Speaking; at least 7.0 for reading and Writing)
- ISLPR 4 (in each of the areas of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing)

It is a private educational institution that offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in business, education & humanities, ministries, social sciences and Christian studies. The courses are offered in the form of diploma, bachelor, associate degree, graduate certificate and graduate degree programs. Some of the areas in which these courses are offered are accounting, marketing, youth studies, human education, and practical and Biblical studies.
