COURSE DESCRIPTION

Lead the way! Healthcare systems across the world aim to deliver quality, safe and effective care to the population. However, many systems face challenges of limited resources, changing healthcare needs and rapidly advancing technology. Our postgraduate courses in health administration will develop the practical leadership and management skills needed to address challenging issues in these changing healthcare environments, and to manage relationships with other service providers, consumers and policymakers.

This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the complexity of delivering and planning for services in a modern healthcare environment.

It is designed for clinicians, managers and administrators who want to deliver high quality, safe and effective healthcare.

It is possible to exit this course with a Graduate Certificate in Health Administration or a Graduate Diploma in Health Administration once you have completed certain units.

What you’ll learn

Apply knowledge from the discipline Health Administration and understand its theoretical underpinnings. Extend the boundaries of knowledge through research.
Apply logical and rational processes to analyse the components of complex heath systems issues; Think creatively to generate innovative solutions.
Decide what information is needed and where it might be found using appropriate technologies; Make valid judgements and synthesise information from a range of sources.
Effectively communicate in ways appropriate to Health Administration, mindful of audience and purpose.
Use current technologies applicable to health care organizations effectively; recognising their advantages and limitations.
Use a range of learning strategies; Take responsibility for one’s own learning and development; Sustain intellectual curiosity; know how to continue to learn as a Health Administration graduate.
Provide ethical and professional standards of health service management with sensitivity to political, social, cultural, geographical, technological and global influences
Provide ethical and professional standards of health administration with sensitivity to political, social, cultural, geographical, technological and global influences; particularly indigenous populations.
Work independently and in teams; Demonstrate leadership, professional behaviour and ethical practices within the Health discipline.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must satisfy the following criteria to qualify for one of our postgraduate coursework programs: Completed a bachelor degree awarded by a recognised tertiary institution. Some postgraduate courses may require a completed bachelor degree in a relevant field.

Certificate in Advanced English (CAE): Grade C; and Pearson Test of English Academic: 60. IELTS Academic (International English Language Testing System): Writing, Speaking, Reading, and Listening: 6.0; Overall band score: 6.5; TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): 79 Overall; Reading 13 Listening 13 Speaking 18 Writing 21.
