The RII60520 – ADVANCED DIPLOMA OF CIVIL CONSTRUCTION DESIGN contains 5 core units & 7 electives.
Career Pathways:
Civil Engineering Construction Supervisor: As a Civil Engineering Construction Supervisor, you’ll oversee on-site operations, ensuring projects are executed efficiently, safely, and according to design specifications. Your role involves coordinating work crews, managing resources, and liaising between engineers, contractors, and stakeholders.
Civil Engineering Draftsperson: A Civil Engineering Draftsperson plays a pivotal role in the design process. You’ll create detailed technical drawings and plans based on the specifications provided by engineers. This includes aspects such as site layouts, structural elements, and utility systems.
Civil Engineering Design Draftsperson: In this role, you’ll focus on the initial design phase of civil engineering projects. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers to translate concepts into detailed technical drawings and plans, ensuring they meet regulatory standards and client requirements.
Civil Engineering Technician: As a Civil Engineering Technician, you’ll be involved in a wide range of tasks, from conducting field surveys to assisting in the design and development of projects. Your responsibilities may include data collection, drafting, and technical support to the engineering team.
Senior Civil Works Designer: This position is the pinnacle of expertise in civil engineering design. Senior Civil Works Designers are responsible for conceiving and executing the most complex and intricate projects. They demonstrate exceptional mastery in applying theoretical and technical knowledge to find innovative solutions to technical challenges and management requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
Students enrolling into RII60520 – Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design must meet the following entry requirements:
A candidate must be a minimum age of 18 years at the time of course commencement.
Submit a copy of minimum Year 12 or equivalent qualification or AQF Certificate III / IV or higher.
Successfully complete a Language, Literacy & Numeracy test (LLN) & Pre-training review (PTR) process
Candidate undertaking this course must possess sound language, literacy, and numeracy skills since it requires them to do calculations, make recipe cards and do menu costing, do the calculation for budget and prepare operational plans.
All students are required to undertake a language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) test conducted by the institute.
If learners do not meet English and LLN requirements, learners will be asked to take further Language, literacy, and numeracy training (as Institute doesn’t offer LLN training courses)
All learners will be required to undertake a pre-training review which aims to identify their training needs through questions on previous education or training, the relevance of the courses to the learner, relevant experience, and interview conducted by the Institute’s enrolment officer. The interview also aims to identify the suitability of the course, any support needs, and possible RPL opportunities.
Through pre-training review learner will demonstrate that they have the necessary skills to successfully complete the course
