COURSE DESCRIPTION
Become a sports scientist – work in sports performance developing healthy living and rehabilitation programs. Our new Health and Sports Precinct allows you to focus on practical learning in a hands-on environment, in addition to industry placements.
Our ESSA accredited Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science program enables you to develop knowledge and practical skills with core studies in biomechanics, anatomy, physiology and health, whilst pursuing an interest in either applied exercise programming, health or teaching. You will examine key aspects of sport science and learn how to plan, implement and evaluate healthy living and diverse populations.
You will also experience a blended learning approach through face to face delivery in Ballarat or flexible delivery in Gippsland, with workshops and tutorials, online engagement activities and practical learning, supported by our sports facilities in Gippsland, and our new Health and Sports Precinct in Ballarat. Industry placements are also part of the curriculum – a program component that our students love the most.
With support from us, you will gain valuable work experience within a range of exercise science industries both locally and state-wide.
Upon graduation, you will be eligible for registration with Exercise and Sport Science Australia, and be able to pursue a variety of career paths. Our graduates have successfully gained employment in high profile organisations including the NBA, NFL, AFL, NRL and Super Netball.
If you wish to progress to further study, the Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science is a pathway to coursework masters degrees including a Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology, Master of Strength and Conditioning and Master of Teaching (Secondary).

Pathways
Credit will be considered if you have successfully completed higher education or TAFE studies. Advanced standing will be determined on an individual basis, depending on your eligibility for credit transfer, prior experience and qualifications.
If you are seeking alternate entry into the Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science you can consider applying for the following programs:
- A Bachelor degree in a related field.
- It is recommended that you also undertake additional work to enhance your application including: working in a sports related field in a paid employment and/or voluntary capacity, or obtaining additional qualifications (coaching certificate, lifesaving course etc.).
- You may complete a Single Subject Enrolment in a related field.
- Negotiated Offers will be accepted through VTAC.

REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of Australian Year 12 with final-year mathematics courses, or overseas equivalent.
Overall Academic IELTS score of 7.0, with no band less than 7.0 or equivalent; TOEFL IBT: 100 with minimums: Reading 24, Listening 24, Speaking 23, Writing 27; Pearson (PTE): Overall 65 (no band less than 65); Cambridge-CAE: Overall 185 (no band less than 185).
