COURSE DESCRIPTION
Get equipped with an array of skills necessary for a career in screen-based media. You will study scriptwriting, cinematography, creative collaboration, editing, sound, lighting and directing. Graduates emerge ready for a rewarding career in screen with specialised skills for associated creative areas.
What you will study
First year
A typical first year may include:
- Key skills in screen production including camera work, sound, lighting and editing.
- Topics in screen and media studies, as well as an introduction to the creative arts and multimedia.
Second year
A typical second year may include:
- Acquiring screen production skills.
- Studying genres of film and scriptwriting.
- Building the connections between creative arts theory and practice.
Third year
A typical third year may include:
- Adapting stories for the screen, along with a continuation of your screen production studies.
- Exhibiting your screen techniques and skills in a 16mm film, showing them at the end-of-year showcase.
Your career
Flinders graduates include award-winning actors, animators, directors, cinematographers, editors, producers and writers. Your diverse range of skills and portfolio of creative achievements will make you attractive to a wide range of employers in the arts and communication industries internationally.

REQUIREMENTS
Flinders University recognises international secondary schooling for direct entry to undergraduate programs.
Audition/interview or portfolio.
English language requirements
- IELTS (Academic): 6.0 Overall with 6.0 Speaking, 6.0 Writing;
- TOEFL iBT: 72 Overall with 18 Speaking, 21 Writing;
- Pearson PTE Academic: 50 Overall with 50 Speaking, 50 Writing;
- Cambridge C1 Advanced: 169 Overall with 169 Writing, 169 Speaking;
- Occupational English Test (OET): 300 Speaking, 300 Writing; Duolingo (Up to and including Semester 2, 2024): Overall 95-100
