The interplay between developing solutions in mechanical engineering and the need to understand electrical and electronic engineering is widespread. This degree provides the education to understand both sides; Many companies want engineers that combine the skills of electrical and electronic engineers with those of mechanical engineers. Electrical and electronic engineers are increasingly in high demand with the technology embedded in most facets of life ranging from electrical power systems and consumer goods through to the sophisticated instrumentation used in electronic circuits, electronic devices, telecommunications and computer systems while mechanical engineering is concerned with the design, construction and operation of machinery. Mechanical engineers are in great demand locally and internationally in a variety of industries.

Professional accreditation/recognition
All our Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Engineering degrees are accredited by Engineers Australia at the level of professional engineer. Professional engineering courses accredited by Engineers Australia are recognised internationally under the Washington Accord. Graduates meet the academic requirements for attaining chartered professional engineering status.
REQUIREMENTS
Flinders University recognises international secondary schooling for direct entry to undergraduate programs.
SACE stage two specialist mathematics or mathematical methods or equivalent. Knowledge of SACE stage two physics or equivalent is assumed.
English language requirements
- IELTS (Academic): 6.0 Overall with 6.0 Speaking, 6.0 Writing;
- TOEFL iBT: 72 Overall with 18 Speaking, 21 Writing;
- Pearson PTE Academic: 50 Overall with 50 Speaking, 50 Writing;
- Cambridge C1 Advanced: 169 Overall with 169 Writing, 169 Speaking;
- Occupational English Test (OET): 300 Speaking, 300 Writing; Duolingo (Up to and including Semester 2, 2024): Overall 95-100
