COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Diploma of TESOL at Gold Coast Learning Centre develops the skills, knowledge and experience you need to become a qualified teacher of English as a Second Language (ESL) or English as a Foreign Language (EFL).
Gold Coast Learning Centre is the only school on the Gold Coast offering the Diploma of TESOL face-to-face in a fully operational college.
The course is highly practical and directly related to the needs of industry, preparing graduates for immediate entry into the workforce with hands-on experience teaching ESL students at our campus in Surfers Paradise.
The Diploma of TESOL at Gold Coast Learning Centre teaches you to effectively design and deliver a syllabus and provides practical, hands-on experience in real-life situations.
The course will help you develop and enhance your practical skills, working with qualified teachers at a variety of levels and courses, from General English and Exam Preparation to programs for Primary and High School aged students.
Observation and practical placements are conducted within the college with the assistance and supervision of our expert team of teachers who help you develop the skills you need, including:
- Understanding cultural diversity
- Teaching grammar, reading, writing, spelling, pronunciation, speaking and listening
- Designing a syllabus and assessment
- Observing teaching strategies and techniques and developing ideas for your own lessons
- Getting to know the students and assessing English proficiency levels and needs
- Testing what delivery style works best for you and the students you teach
- Applying what you have learnt in the course to real-life situations
REQUIREMENTS
International students require a Year 12 education, or equivalent.
International students must meet one of the following English language requirements:
Current GCLC students assessed at Intermediate level or higher;
The equivalent of Australian Secondary School Grade 10 English;
English proficiency level requirement of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent;
Or at the discretion of the Academic Management of Gold Coast Learning Centre.
EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION
Gold Coast Learning Centre is an English language school located just minutes from the beach in Surfers Paradise on Australia’s famous Gold Coast. It offers four levels of General English study, providing high quality instruction in a friendly setting. These focus on the core English language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing and are suitable to all students from beginners to advanced learners. Class sizes vary, with an average of 10 students per class to ensure a personalised, helpful and enjoyable learning environment.
