With this specialist degree you’ll learn to combine and use scientific, engineering and economic knowledge to planning ways to protect, restore and rehabilitate our catchments. You’ll develop the leading edge knowledge and skills needed to make a difference in this rapidly developing area of professional practice. The Master of Catchment Science is the only catchment-dedicated postgraduate degree in the world. Hosted by the International Water Centre and developed and delivered in collaboration with Griffith University.

We offer consistent opportunities for work-integrated learning along with a week-long study field trip.

This is an opportunity to accelerate your position in the planning of projects related to the protection, maintenance or restoration of catchments. You’ll have the latest skills in data sensing, analysis and computer modelling, underpinned by robust scientific knowledge and be ready to further your career in the planning and design of green infrastructure in urban and non-urban contexts.

This Masters program will be offered full-time and part-time online.
This program is not available to international students studying in Australia on a student visa.

The Master of Catchment Science enables you to accelerate your career in work related to managing and mitigating the catchment impacts of urban development. You’ll also develop the skills and knowledge for protecting drinking water quality in reservoirs, mitigating flood impacts, reducing waterway pollution and degradation, protecting sensitive coastal receiving environments, and restoring waterway and landscape vegetation and ecology.

REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for admission to the Master of Catchment Science, an applicant must have:
- hold a related Bachelor degree (or higher) from a recognised University (or another tertiary institution of equivalent standing) with a minimum GPA of 4.0 (using a 7.0 scale) and at least one year of professional experience OR
- hold a Griffith Graduate Certificate in Catchment Hydrology OR
- hold a Griffith Graduate Certificate in Catchment Processes.
Students admitted to this degree program with a Graduate Certificate in Catchment Hydrology or Graduate Certificate in Catchment Processes will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing towards the Masters.
English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows:
- A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 6.0
- OR a minimum score of 575 on TOEFL
- OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no sub-score less than 19)
- OR no score less than 3+ in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only)
- OR a minimum overall score of 176 (no score less than 169) on C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English) or C2 Proficiency (formerly Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English)
- OR an overall score of 58 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with no score less than 50.
