COURSE DESCRIPTION

If you are a general Dental practitioner and want to develop the necessary competence to safely and effectively undertake advanced general practice treatments, this program will meet your needs.

This program is offered with the following majors:

  • Endodontics
  • Implant Dentistry
  • Oral Epidemiology and Dental Public Health
  • Oral Surgery
  • Prosthodontics.

PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION

Applicants are advised that the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) requires Dentists to demonstrate English language skills that are suitable for registration.

ATTENDANCE INFORMATION

This program is offered full-time and part-time at the Gold Coast campus.

The program is tailored to the needs of practising dentists and is designed to upskill general dentists in their chosen major. Over the period of study it will combine face-to-face seminars, pre-clinical training, lectures, supervised clinical practice, mentoring and finish with a research project.

Face-to-face seminars, pre-clinical training and supervised clinical training will require on-campus attendance at Griffith University. Due to the need for students to develop complex clinical and technical skills throughout this program, and the flexible mode of delivery, courses may extend beyond the standard teaching trimester (that is, commencing earlier and extending later than the standard teaching trimester). Exact dates over which these extended courses will run will be published on a trimester-by-trimester basis in the Academic Calendar.

The program aims to directly benefit practitioners by enabling the immediate transfer of the developed competencies into clinical practice as the student advances through the program. In addition, the student will be encouraged to document and share experiences from his/her practice.

MY CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

You will be able to deliver quality services within general dental practice. You may also continue towards a research degree.
