In this degree you will choose from a wide variety of possible course combinations and customise your studies to suit your needs and professional goals. You will develop superior skills in your musical profession. You will also have the opportunity to present your work to the public, whether in recitals, print or electronic media.
ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
This program is offered full-time and on-campus at South Bank.
If you are an International student on a student visa, you must ensure that you enrol in a way that will allow you to complete your enrolment within the expected program duration as stated on your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
Managing interruptions
The following advice provides specific information about interrupting your studies in this program:
Leave of Absence: Students undertaking this program may apply for a maximum of two trimesters leave of absence and prior approval must be obtained by submitting an online Leave of Absence application form to a Student Connect Centre. First year Conservatorium students will not normally be granted leave of absence except on compassionate grounds.
Readmission: Students seeking readmission to this program require approval from the Program Director. If readmission is sought for Trimester 1, application should be made by the first week of August in the previous year. For readmission to Trimester 2, application should be made at least three months prior to the commencement of that trimester. An audition may be required.
WORK-INTEGRATED LEARNING
The program emphasises work-based learning and will utilise the experience and the working environment of the participants. The program aims to directly benefit practitioners, by enabling the immediate transfer of the developed musical skills as the student advances through the program. In addition, students will be encouraged to document and share experiences from their practice. A compulsory WIL component is offered in the Pedagogy major only.

REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for admission to this Masters program, applicants will require the following:
- hold a Bachelor of Music or equivalent degree from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) AND
- successfully undertake an audition and interview and receive a panel recommendation for admission to the Master of Music studies OR
- submit a folio of creative works for audition and receive a panel recommendation for admission to the Master of Music Studies.
OR
- hold a Bachelor of Music (Honours) or equivalent degree from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) including completion of a Music research methodology course AND
- successfully undertake an audition and receive a panel recommendation for admission to the Master of Music Studies OR
- submit a folio of creative works for audition and receive a panel recommendation for admission to the Master of Music Studies
English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows: A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 6.0; OR a minimum score of 575 on TOEFL; OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 79 (no sub-score less than 19); OR no score less than 3+ in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only); OR a minimum overall score of 176 (no score less than 169) on C1 Advanced (formerly Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English) or C2 Proficiency (formerly Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English); OR an overall score of 58 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with no score less than 50.
