COURSE DESCRIPTION

You will learn through a problem-based curriculum, active learning in small groups and practical work placements that facilitate the integration of theory and practice. As a speech pathologist, you will be equipped to work in a wide range of health and educational settings. You will develop research literacy and enhance your ability to respond to changes and provide quality services throughout your professional life.

You will have the opportunity to work in a variety of areas including hospitals, community and rehabilitation centres, schools (kindergarten to high school), nursing homes, disability services and in private practice.

REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Speech Pathology, a student must have: completed an undergraduate degree (not in speech pathology) with a minimum GPA of 5.0 using a 7-point scale (studies must have been completed within ten years prior to the commencement of the trimester to which a student is applying and whilst there are no prerequisite study areas for admission, desirable areas include: Psychology; Health Science; Public Health; Medical Science; Human Services; Education; Linguistics) and satisfactory performance in an interview with a Speech Pathology academic staff member.

English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows: A minimum overall band score of 7.0 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 7.0 OR a minimum score of 580 on TOEFL OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 92 (no score less than 22) OR no score less than 4 in each skill of the ISLPR (conducted by ISLPR Language Services only) OR a minimum overall score of 185 (no score less than 176) on C2 Proficiency (formerly Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English).
