HLT54121 – Diploma of Nursing is a nationally accredited course that supersedes HLT54115-Diploma of Nursing. This 18-month course delivers the essential nursing skills and knowledge required to be eligible as an Enrolled Nurse with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).

The HLT54121 – Diploma of Nursing qualification reflects the role of an Enrolled Nurse (EN) working under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). You will learn and practice how to administer medicines & intravenous therapy, wound management, basic to advanced nursing skills within the scope of enrolled nursin g (including care of the clients with acute, chronic & mental health conditions, diabetes, and care of older clients), effective communication, research, leadership, and telehealth.
Upon successful registration with NMBA graduates may gain employment in various healthcare facilities, which may include:
Hospitals
Day respite centres
Rehabilitation centres
Residential group homes
Medical centres
Training resource centres
Open employment services
Other community settings and clients’ homes
The course is provided through Face to Face delivery. It will be delivered over 1540 hours including theory, self-paced structured e-learning, simulation training.
REQUIREMENTS
There are no formal entry requirements for this course; however, applicants should demonstrate the ability to perform tasks as required by the industry. IHNA Admission Requirements • Successful completion of the Australian Year 12 course or pathway through Certificate IV level qualification from Health (HLT) or Community Services (CHC) training package; • 18 years of age and above at the time of commencement of the course • NMBA specified level of English language skills
Additional requirements:Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) requirement • All students are required to undergo the LLN test proffered by IHNA for their suitability to be determined for undertaking the course successfully. Digital literacy • Basic computer skills covering the most common usages of a computer, including managing computer files, word processing, using spreadsheets and databases; creating presentations; finding information and communicating using computers; and being aware of social and ethical implications of Internet use. • Having own computer (desktop or laptop) to facilitate the training and assessment. Recommended Laptop requirements: Core i3 Processor, 4 GB of RAM, Operating system; Windows 7 or later version, Screen; 10” or higher, Microsoft Office or Open Office Program, Adobe Reader and Antivirus Program.
