COURSE DESCRIPTION

Knowledgeable, high profile professionals are the backbone of the IT industry. This program provides you with the opportunity to learn new programming languages, architecture and paradigms to create new software applications. You will complete subjects in dynamic web development, data structures and algorithms and agile coding, in addition to electives that will add breadth and depth to your studies. The curriculum reflects the current and future needs of practicing software developers, aimed to advance your skills in first and second year of the curriculum so that you can apply your knowledge to a final year project. On completion, you may seek employment that involves identifying new areas of software process improvements to produce measurable business benefits. Your communication skills will be an asset in this area, as you report on project progress, anomalies, risks and issues. Graduates may also be involved in software release and post-release activities, including product launches, and implementation roles such as installation, configuration, programming/customisation, integration and data migration.

Online Learning is only available for international students not studying on student visas This degree is also available to international students located outside Australia to commence via online studies whilst travel restrictions are in place. When travel restrictions ease, students should transition to campus to complete their studies.

Professional Accreditation

This program holds Professional Level accreditation with the Australian Computer Society (ACS).

Pathways/Alternative Entry

Entry into the Second year of the program can be considered on successful completion of ICT50220 Diploma of Information Technology or ICT6020 Advanced Diploma of Information Technology from IIBIT. Credit will be considered if you have successfully completed higher education or TAFE studies in a relevant area. Advanced standing will be determined on an individual basis, depending on your eligibility for credit transfer, prior experience, and qualifications.

Satisfactory completion of this course can lead to the Bachelor of Science (Honours), as a prelude to a higher degree in research or a professional qualification.

REQUIREMENTS

Successful completion of Australian Year 12 with final-year mathematics courses, or overseas equivalent.

English language requirement

Overall Academic IELTS band score of 6.0, with no band less than 5.5, or equivalent.
