COURSE DESCRIPTION

LCAD offers a comprehensive one year intensive program for students wanting to learn a wide range of photo-practice skills and techniques. From fine art and photo documentation through to advertising and commercial photography, this course covers the latest photo-techniques from analogue to the latest digital technologies. LCAD’s photography course is dedicated to image-makers and artists who are interested in developing their oeuvre and building upon their technical skills. Students will engage in classes that help them to understand how the work they create shapes contemporary culture.

In the one-year intensive CUA50920 Diploma of Photography and Digital Imaging, students will learn a wide range of photography practice skills and techniques. From fine art and photo documentation through to advertising and commercial photography, LCAD’s photography offering is comprehensive and you may also explore photography as part of our Visual Art course. This diploma and advanced diploma course can be completed with a photography stream that will focus on photography in the same study context as other fine art disciplines such as painting.

Career Pathways

The CUA50920 Diploma of Photography and Digital Imaging enables students to progress onto degree level study or to work immediately as a photographer. An artist photographer can find career opportunities as an exhibiting photographer, designer, gallery worker, teacher, museum conservator, exhibition curator, photography industry expert. Commercial photographers can find opportunities as a photojournalist, art photographer, fashion photographer, sports photographer, property photographer commercial / advertising photographer, medical / scientific photographer or social photographer.

REQUIREMENTS

Year 12 & non-year 12, mature age students

International Students with English as a second language need to complete an English test, such as a general English iELTS and achieve a score of 5.5 or above, with no individual band less than 5.0.
