COURSE DESCRIPTION

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use a broad range of event-related skills and sound knowledge of event management processes to coordinate event operations. They operate independently and make operational event management decisions.

Events are diverse in nature and this qualification provides a pathway to work for event or exhibition organizations operating in a range of industries, including the tourism and travel, hospitality, sport, cultural, and community sectors.

The diversity of employers includes event or exhibition management companies, event venues, or organizations their own events. Work could be undertaken in an office environment where the planning of events takes place, on-site at venues where events are staged or a combination of both.

Possible roles include event or exhibition planner and coordinator positions in the areas of conferencing, event sales, functions, in-house meetings, staging and venues.

DELIVERY AND ASSESSMENT

A variety of methods are incorporated into the course to accommodate different learning styles. These include, but are not limited to, project work, reports, observations, portfolio development, case study analysis, role play and individual presentations.

DELIVERY APPROACH AND MODE

The delivery approach of this course is based on a timetable of 20 hours per week. The mode of delivery and assessment of this course may include lectures, group workshops, presentations, practical activities, some self-directed learning as well as research reports. These components will be supported by blended learning methodologies, face to face classroom-based learning and/or a flexible approach with online learning.

SITEEVT003 Coordinate on-site event registrations

SITXFIN003 Manage finances within a budget

BSBCMM401 Make a Presentation

BSBADM502 Manage Meetings

SITXMGT002 Establish and conduct business relationships

SITXHRM003 Lead and manage people

SITXCCS007 Enhance customer service experiences

SITXMGT001 Monitor Work Operations

SITEEVT010 Manage on-site event operations

SITEEVT008 Manage event staging components

SITEEVT009 Organise event infrastructure

BSBSUS401 Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices

REQUIREMENTS

  • Year 12 or equivalent in literacy and numeracy
  • Students must be 18 years of age or over
  • International students require an English language proficiency score of 5.5 IELTS (or equivalent).
