This qualification reflects the role of individuals who diagnose, analyse, evaluate, design and modify vehicle systems in the automotive retail, service and repair industry.
Qualification Rules and Units of Competency
12 units in total: 1 core unit + 11 elective units
The following lists of units of competency have been selected as being an appropriate combination and suitable for industry required outcomes. Elective can be chosen according to the requirement of the student.
AURETA006 – Analyse and evaluate electrical and electronic faults in air conditioning and HVAC system
AURETB002 – Analyse and evaluate electrical and electronic faults in dynamic control management systems
AURETEOOI – Analyse and evaluate electrical and electronic faults in engine management systems
AURETXOOI – Analyse and evaluate electrical and electronic faults in driveline management systems
AURLTB002 – Analyse and evaluate faults in light vehicle braking systems
AURAFA007 – Develop and document specification and procedures
AURLTD007 – Analyse and evaluate faults in light vehicle steering suspension system
AURLTE003 – Analyse and evaluate faults in light vehicle engine and fuel systems
AURLTQ003 – Analyse and evaluate faults in light vehicle transmission and driveline systems
AURTNAOOI – Estimate and quote automotive vehicle or machinery modification

Career Outcomes
The Diploma of Automotive Technology recognises and develops existing workers who are performing advanced diagnosis and design tasks in the automotive industry.

REQUIREMENTS
Student must be 18 years of age or turning 18 years of age prior to the initial course commencement.
Those undertaking this program must have completed Year 10 or Equivalent qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.
Those undertaking the Diploma of Automotive technology must have completed an automotive Certificate IV Qualification in one of the following disciplines, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.
- AUR40216 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis
- AUR40816 Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Overhauling
Where required, the minimum requirement for evidence of English test scores are 5.5 IELTS or Equivalent in a recognized English assessment.
