COURSE DESCRIPTION
This qualification reflects the role of individuals in the accounting and bookkeeping industry, including business activity statement (BAS) agents and contract bookkeepers; and of those employees performing bookkeeping tasks for organizations in a range of industries. It includes preparing and lodging business and instalment activity statements, data processing, monthly reconciliations, preparing budgets, preparing reports on financial performance and the position of the business, preparing end-of-year adjustments, and finalizing financial records after year-end.

Persons providing a business activity statement (BAS) service for a fee or other reward must be registered by the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) and this qualification is currently cited as meeting the TPB education requirements for registration.
Other conditions apply, including a designated period of experience.
Persons seeking BAS agent registration should check current registration requirements with the TPB, as registration requirements are reviewed regularly.

To be awarded this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in 13 units 10 core units plus 3 elective units. (NB: Elective units may vary by state and are subject to change to meet client and industry requirements)

MITT uses a range of assessment methods which may include:
Written assessment (open book)
Projects
Case study
Observation
Assessment will be either a Recognition of Prior Learning pathway or a Training and Assessment pathway.
For a Training and Assessment pathway, participants are advised of the assessment requirements at the start of each training session.
Students not achieving competency in any assessment will be required to undertake another assessment under the terms and conditions of MITT’s reassessment policy.
REQUIREMENTS
The entry requirements for international students:
Must be 18 years old or over
Completed year 11 or equivalent
Minimum score of 5.5 – IELTS, 46 – TOEFL, 42 – PTE, 47 CAE score or equivalent
