COURSE DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this program is to prepare students to pursue a career within the hospitality (commercial kitchen) industry, and more specifically to students willing to attain an Australian nationally recognised qualification in commercial cookery. The program provides learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to undertake commercial cooking activities in restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops.
Course Outcome:
Once students have successfully completed SIT30821 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, they can apply for jobs within the hospitality industry which can include chefs at restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafés, and/or coffee shops. Education Pathway: All candidates are provided with advice on employment and training options throughout the delivery of the program. Pathways from the qualification The further study pathways available to students who undertake this qualification include: ● SIT40521 Certificate IV in Kitchen Management ● SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management ● or any other Diploma level qualification with the SIT Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package
REQUIREMENTS
There are no pre-requisites for any of the units of competency contained within it. This course is available to all international students and Melbourne College of Business and Technology requires that students are able to provide evidence that they:
• Have demonstrated an IELTS level of at least 5.5 or equivalent (test results must be no more than 2 years old) or the successful completion of at least General English Upper Intermediate or English for Academic Purposes Upper Intermediate level.
• Have successfully completed Australian year 12 or equivalent.
• Are at least at age of 18 at the time of course commencement.
