COURSE DESCRIPTION
HLT42015 Certificate IV in Massage Therapy is for students who want to be employed as massage therapists who provide general health maintenance treatments.
This qualification reflects the role of massage therapists who provide general health maintenance treatments. It does not reflect the role of a remedial massage therapist. Practitioners may be self-employed or work within a larger health service.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 80 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.
Work in the health industry reflects a complex inter-relationship of duty of care, ethical behaviours and personal values in the context of provision of high-quality service to clients.
The nature and principles of work in the health industry include:
a) meeting duty of care, legal and statutory responsibilities (ethical behaviour)
b) providing a non-discriminatory service
c) providing a client-centered approach.
It is essential that workers have a sound understanding of the complex regulatory environment in which they work given the interaction between health professional registration legislation; consumer protection and health complaints legislation; public health legislation and the common law principles that apply to a treating practitioner/client relationship.

Pathways from the Qualification
Study Information
Pre-requisite: None
Duration: 46 weeks (3 Days a Week)
Enrolment Age: 18 years or older
Start Dates: Provided on inquiry
Clinical work placement: 80 hours compulsory clinical work placement
REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of minimum Year 11 in Australia or equivalent in student’s country of origin OR
Holders of an AQF qualification level III and above OR
Applicants with no formal qualification and have experience within the industry may also be considered.
Are 18 years of age or above
A minimum English level of IELTS 4.5 or equivalent is required for international applicants.
