Become an independent creative performer with Diploma of Theatre Arts 22598VIC. From script writing to performing, from rehearsal to production, this hands-on diploma will allow you to push the boundaries of your own creativity as a performing artist, and start you on your pathway to success. The performing arts industry offers opportunities to continue to develop your skills through community and fringe theatre, film and your own self-created work, as well as auditioning for mainstream stage and screen.
Unleash your creative potential
Develop your performance skills in voice, acting, movement and improvisation. Learn how to develop, manage and stage your own plays and present them to a live audience. Our Diploma of Theatre Arts 22598VIC is taught at our Prahran campus, home to Melbourne Polytechnic’s lively creative arts community.
Throughout your studies you are not only building your skills, you are working with lecturers who are industry experts, with active careers as producers, directors and performers. You will also be collaborating with students in the other Dramatic Arts courses – live production, costume and specialist makeup, creating networking opportunities for the future and developing a complete understanding of all areas of the arts industry, making you career ready.
The world is your stage
As part of your studies you will rehearse and create two industry level public performances in the David Williamson Theatre. This 120-seat theatre is a sought after performance space with industry standard lighting and sound systems. Along with rehearsal spaces, set and prop construction areas, this theatre is also a key teaching space, giving you ongoing opportunities to increase confidence and presence as an actor. Graduates of the Diploma of Theatre Arts have gone on to enter major drama schools and start their careers by becoming independent freelance creatives, working with Crack’d Actors and La Mama, and producing their own work for Melbourne Comedy and Fringe Festivals.
